I am, right down the street from the old Berkley theatre. I've googled his name and there are quite a few sites that have posts like ours with people wanting to give props to the Electrifying One, I'm thinking one site where we can all gather to show our love would be awesome!!

Whoo, good LAWD!! Don't even get me started down memory lane. . sigh Mojo was the soundtrack to my high school and early college years here in Detroit back when he was on WGPR (along with THE SCENE dance show--which featured the Time and Appolonia 6 when the 1999 tour came to town. . . any ya'll remember THAT?).

Word...
I interviewed Mojo for my high school newspaper back in '89....

Still have a phone number ... Years later he put out the book The Mental Machine. You had to special order it from bookstores. Mine arrived autographed with a little message written in it in marker.

I'd love to get back in touch with him, now that I'm grown. I want to shake his hand and just say Thank You. He educated me and a lot of other cats...

I won't be at the LoveQuake this weekend, but if I don't go out of town, I'll stop by the Fifth Avenue in Comerica Park (when in the hell did we get a Fifth Avenue?)on the 25th, my birthday's the 26th, so I will be coming to party, ya'll!!

Wow! Mojo is diffidently someone I would love 2 meet! Just listening 2 your stories have me with a big smile on my face. U guys were truly blessed 2 have someone like that in your life time. Thanks 4 sharing. After reading this if P were 2 acknowledge someone special 4 showing him love and respect Mojo would truly have my vote. Didn’t P give a shout out or something 2 Mojo when he performed in Detroit? Seem like I read that last year by one of the fans that attended a show in Detroit. I know I have heard the name Mojo mention before. Great Read!!!!! Hey if u find out anything about him please let me know.
worship clapping love bow highfive worship thumbs up! wink cloud9

P shouted Mojo out at one of the first 2 shows at the Palace.

thumbs up! worship

I don't have the cd case here, but I think that Prince even thanks Mojo in the liner notes for Sign o' the Times.

here's one for ya... just something I never forgot cuz it was so hilarious...

Star Wars: Prince Vs. Lionel Richie...

Mojo says: "I cannot believe the punishment that Prince is putting on Lionel at this time.... If there's any Lionel Richie fans out there, your boy needs..... your boy needs HELP!"

Hell yea, remember how sneaky he was about it tho? WB wouldn't let him play it until the day it was released to record stores, so he was going to play it at midnight. But throughout his show, BEFORE midnight, he kept playing parts of it BENEATH whatever else he was playing at the time. Like just teasing whoever was listening...

Mmph, mmph, mmph, the memories, I tell you, the flood gates are open!! I still remember the first time I heard Mojo play Parliment Funkadelic's "Maggot Brain", then the B52's "Mesopotamia" then Kraftwerk's "Computer World", back to back to back, talk about funking the joint up!! Wheeeeew!!

I gotta great question for Mojo. Midnight, maybe you can email this one to him before that q&a, does he have any of his shows on tape, cd, reel to reel, 8 track, it doesn't matter, I'd pay a Queen's ransom, to hear some Mojo right about now!! A sista is jonesing big time!!!

No doubt. I wish I still had even half of the tapes I used to have. I used to put a blank tape in just before bedtime, hit the record button and go to sleep. If i was lucky, the "pop" that the radio would make when the tape ended would wake me up so i could flip the tape over... This of course was when I was young and not allowed to stay up late on school nights...

I started spending my whole weekly allowance on blank tapes...

I used to love when he'd get rappers in the studio like run-dmc, the fat boys, etc. and they'd record a little "commercial" for mojo's show....

Run-DMC, WHYT, Chillin on the spot in the place to be
Rockin' this mic and I'm on the go, with my man the electrifyin MOJO!

Mojo in the place with style & grace, rockin with the Lover's Lane and he's on the case
Kool Rock and Buff in the place to be, jammin on W H, Y and T...

Sounds silly now, but little shit like that was cool back in the day...

Yea. It's like back in the day, when you would roll down to Belle Isle, and see 30 cars there, all with Mojo's show on full blast on their radios. That's the beautiful thing about his shows: how he united Detroit in that way. It didn't matter who you were, who you hung with or what your bag was, Mojo, indeed, provided the soundtrack to our lives.
