I started that whole thing. I still believe he's above this. All the pussycats are good for is sex appeal... that's how I see them. I don't see them having any real talent. Except maybe dancing, but I dunno. I can understand how you might find using sex appeal to sell music obnoxious and exploitve...I'm not a Pussycat fan but concerning Prince and his music and former protegees, I never really saw the "sex" part that way...alot of people saw it as pornography...more erotica and just putting his essence into his act. So maybe he could teach these girls a thing or too....sex isn't bad and being sexy is healthy but it has to be combinded with some talent and feeling to make it stand out I think. Prince was a master at this I think with his act and his girls. | |

Okay, I'm getting really annoyed with all the comments here about how PCD are exactly the same as Vanity 6/A6.  There is a BIG difference. On V6 and A6's albums, Prince wrote, produced and played most, if not all, of the instruments. Those albums were "fake" Prince albums, to express another side of himself and allow him to put out massive amounts of music at the same time.

When he did that stint on Idol, I was an observer, I wasn't in "this world" yet. I was just shocked that he did it cuz there was talk about it and looked like he wouldn't do it becuz it seemed like something plain "not good enough for him to spend his time on". I was going out of my mind cuz I've watched American Idol since season 1 and I couldn't wait to see what he could do. It was probably my first live peformance of his. I look at American Idol differently now. Sure, I still watch it, but it's not quite the same as it used to be. It seems like America's running out of talent, at least people that just want to be singers. Prince (and probably the acts of tomorrow will) enter(ed) the industry simply for the love of the music, not to get famous. Good job giving us the bottom line, I kinda lost my head along the way. First of all that is NOT happening, all circulating tracklistings for the Dolls second album and Nicoles Solo Record due out in July are FAKE. The only connection between the two artists is that when the Dolls were interviewed early on, they asked the girls about who they would love to work with, and Nicole said Prince, outside of that there is really no other connection. The dolls second album is still being worked on and will be out later this year but there are no confirmed tracks. As far Wikipedia every other day theres some fake list for someone, they list Nicoles album due out in June with "STEAM" as the first single, Steam is a demo she cut that is not even going on the album.
However if Prince did do something with Nicole it would be one of the most talented females he's worked with. Lets face it PRINCE works with females that are nothing more than extensions of his own persona, early days with Vanity6,Apollonia,JillJones etc this was all extensions of his own persona, in the 90's is more about him getting laid, working with Nona,carmen and Mayte. Then he started working with more talented women in Rosie and Tamar, but what happend?? he got bored, and they got the door. Look i love Prince but lets not make it like this guy is a talent scout or something, sure he has brought on some talent through the years, but alot of time it was more about his own pleasure. I know people hate the PCD on here (well most seem to), and I am personally not a fan either. But look at it this way. They have only been doing what hundreds of popstars have been doing over the last 30 or so years and that´s selling their image and being commercial. There is a reason for this - they want to sell records!! I know it sounds obvious, but thats the bear bones of it. The fact that they have no talent is immaterial, they are in it for the money and they dont have talent so they have to showcase themselves in other ways to be noticed. Prince himself understood this side of the business when he setup Appolonia and Vanity - he wrote songs for them because he knew they would get noticed. OF course they didnt last, and the PCD´s wont last either - but they dont care, what is important to them is making money now with the limited talent that they have.
On the song, dontcha. We all think its a bad song because PCD performed it, but when I close my eyes I can see Prince singing it in his falsetto (maybe a few words are a little different), but it kinda does sound "Princey" and it wouldnt surprise me if he did write, arrange or produce it in some way.. Why would he do that? Not 100% sure, but probably with his religious limitations, he probably cant be associated with such a narcissistic and sexual song directly. But I think there is some Prince in there somewhere. About future collaborations. Maybe this ia sign that Prince wants to break out of his shackles musically a little and get back to some of those old sexy songs which you can hear bits of his emerging new "sexiness" in 3121, maybe he wants to take it further through the PCD. What Im saying is that the PCD´s are no more a vehicle for Prince than VAnity, The Time, etc. to show another side of his personality without actually affecting his direct musical catalogue. Like all those other "outlets", it will pass as he moves on and bands like PCD will fade into memory once he is done with them. | |

You act like if world war 3 were on it's way. It's MUSIC people! I say it again: MUSIC! Why the heck do you always have to take everything so seriously? So what if Prince decided to do something with the Pussycat Dolls? Music is not only supposed to be artsy and tell great stories, sometimes it can just be FUN. You don't have to like all of his ideas. Most of you don't know Prince, you have just chosen to appreciate his music. And let's be honest, Vanity/Apollonia 6 weren't the greatest (music wise) even if Prince wrote their material. It's just the nostalgia talking. IMO, "Dontcha" is a modern "Nast Girl". Also, Nicole has actually a better voice than Vanity/Apples. She's a good singer. Prince Sorry to disagree but Carmen was nothing more than a guest in the Pussycat Dolls. The group was formed by Robin Antin back in 1992, Carmen wasnt even near the Dolls till the late 90's early 00's. Prince had nothing to do with the Dolls either. He may have had similar ideas, but did not form them. Maybe its just me, most of their songs are good, if you listen to the music on their album .. lol .. I think PCD is good, Nicole is an amazing singer, just cause one song is crap, doesnt mean they all are lol. But I adore PCD. Especially Nicole .. but then again .. this is all coming from me ...
