CDNOW.com: new Prince CD or misprint?? "One Man Jam" ?

Maybe this has already been discussed but i just saw this on CDNOW.com while checking out a recent thread:

Advance orders available for "One Man Jam"...? Says the release date is "August 13, 2002."

http://cdnow.com/cgi-bin/...tID=Prince

Anyone know if this is a new or vault CD, or simply a misprint?
(the Graffiti Bridge 2006 cd is obviously a mistake)

Thanx for any info.- Xtian.

[edit: turns out this is just a 94 East release-see below. I got a little excited there for a moment]

I'll save you the effort... I predict their response will be something like...

"High.

We have no information on that at this time."

This is just the 94 East (Pepe Willie etc) CD re-issued. Check out this thread.

If you are in the UK this looks like it is identical to the Symbolic Beginning 2 CD set on Charly Records I think.
Just somewhere in the middle,
Not too good and not too bad.

KeithyT, you know i think you're right. I remember receiving an email from someone advertising a new 94 East CD about 3 or 4 weeks ago. Didn't remember the title until you posted.

Sounded like a total ripoff: Prince plays guitar on 2 tracks, nothing more-no singing, no songs composed.

Thanks again.

The most interesting thing on the Symbolic Beginning CD for me is the original version of If You See Me (sometimes incorrectly called Do Yourself A Favour). Of course Prince's later version is much more fun and funky.

There is actually a new song with Prince on lead guitar. Can't remember what it's called but Pepe told me about it and played it for me when I was at his crib last year.

The guitar work was excellent.

I'm sorry i brought it up
... this is not the One Night Alone CD, this is a "new" 94 East CD...with Prince supposedly playing guitar on 2 tracks only.
Prince is not a noted band member, does not compose any of the songs, probably did the guitar parts back when he was 17 yrs old, and likely will not make a penny off this-- though will be marketed as a 'Prince related album'.

For the diehard/collectors, maybe. For music lovers: a total rip off. Buy 'Oh Sheila' by RFTW if you want a better Prince rip off.

I own a version of this and its no big WOP. I did get my reply back from the NPGMC and they told me they never heard of it.

Knowing CDNOW its probably a typo on their part.

DavidEye

The first 94 East album (1985) was just a 6-song mostly instrumental album in which Prince could barely be heard. However, the 2-CD 'Symbolic Beginnings' set(1994) is a MUST-HAVE for any serious Prince fan.You can hear his contributions much more clearly, and there are some great songs included (namely "Better Than You Think" and "If You See Me").

I agree DavidEye. The interesting liner notes and overall packaging of this 2 CD set is also very good IMHO. I believe that this One Man Jam is identical to this set. I heard it has 17 tracks (exactly the same as Symbolic Beginning).
