How did you come to that conclusion? confuse

Read his posts, and Damned if I Do is a boring boring song. This track has the energy of Little Red Corvette and I Could Never Take The Place Of Your Man, even has a the cool deep voice from Erotic City double over some parts, this is VERY VERY cool! I'm actually shocked, but this is why I held out hope he could do it again.

all I said is that is that when I try to sing it to myself from memory (after 3 listens), all I can come up with is Damned If I Do.

I said I like the song. What's your problem? Actually, the one kind of nagging thing that keeps me from loving this song is that it actually doesn't sound much like Prince to me shrug

Ok Raze, I missed this comment, but you're pretty down FBM and I can't see how people don't hear how cool that song is either..

What makes you think that? I like FBM a lot, and I've said so on the threads about it.

Maybe it doesn't sound like Prince to you because Prince hasn't sounded like this since '84-'87. That was 20 years ago. It's been awhile.

And btw, it is a hell a lot more organic than Musiclogy stuff so far. Love the arrangements. Great bass and beat. Nice guitar work. biggrin

I need to listen again, but it struck me as Chaos meets Rave, but in a good way, not in an '84-87 way.

I looked around for the post(s) I was talking about, but haven't found them yet, so sorry, I think... smile

probably had your posts confused with Wall or some of the other ones, sorry.

But, I don't see ANYTHING this song has in common with Rave. In fact, I can't figure out how the same artist that wrote and recorded this could have recorded Rave. It just baffles me.

You're not crazy, they used to have that in common and still do live. This song brings that back. Odd how he got that old sound back right with W&L back on some songs. Hear that slap base, guitar, drums, synth. Not too much overproduction here.

I hear ya. The energy this song puts forth is just ...wow! Its 2am , I should be in bed but im just too stoked from listening to this .

Im picturing him doing this on David Letterman or SNL and simply tearing it up ... theres no way he could go wrong performing this live

Yeah, I do like it a lot. Just listened again. What impresses me most is that we've already heard 3 really solid songs from this album, and that doesn't even include the ones that people who've heard it are hyping up: Planet Earth, Somewhere Here On Earth, Chelsea Rogers, Lion Of Judah and Resolution.

So, I think this is going to be his best album in a very long time. Unless it falls apart in the middle of the disc and turns into the same sequencing mess that Rave, Musicology and 3121 are.

This man is a damn genius!! I mean, I'm always impressed with his musical output, but this new track?? I'm simply blown away at how he can be so established and thoroughly defined, yet new and exciting at the same time. Just when you thought you'd seen it all from P, he shows you a different side and you remember why you loved him in the first place. Again, genius!! Wait, I already said that, didn't I?

Great work! Thoroughly enjoying it!!

correct, but also great organ work here too and there's more power than those two songs, which were more raw (which was cool) this is full on.

Yeah, its funny because we were all hopping his cover of Best of You would show up on this album. But instead hes done a new song in that style of vocal... only this song is head and shoulders better than Best of You
