I don't think the audience understood the lyrics to make any type of connection at all! From what I saw,...there were only two people (front row) who even stood up when Prince came out on stage. Just consider the demographics of the audience. Most were well dressed established actors, directors, screen writers, etc. who weren't there to shake their booties...but for recognition themselves (the P performance was an added bonus). They were all entertained and cordial enough to clap to the music (even if most of them were offbeat). How does that happen with people of color?

"SHEILA AND P TORE IT UP" pretty much sums it up!!!

And I actually was offered tickets to the taping (my company works with NCLR)and I couldn't make it cuz I had to be in DC that day (plus I would've had to fly out to LA).

But I taped on my DVR (in hd though it doesnt' seem like it was broadcast in HD).

I'm glad Sheila got the attention she deserves and that the wider American audience got to see what she can do. That made me happy.

Plus, as others said, it was kind of emotional (at least for those of us who have been following their careers over the last 20 years) to watch them walk out together hand in hand. Very sweet!

I wish Prince would do the tour with Sheila in the band (and Lynn too!). Their solo shows are always awesome but together they create a special kind of magic.

My Alma question, I wonder why Sheila had that "worried" look on her face when she walked in?

I don't know if she was worried. I think it was an homage to the MTV awards show 20 years ago, when the band walked in playing drums, all led by Sheila, looking serious. Also compare the video for U Got the Look. I think she was trying to look badass.
